PRISON MEETING: WARD GIVES DAPTO COMMUNITY THE MIDDLE FINGER
The Member for Shellharbour, Anna Watson MP, has today called out the Member for Kiama for refusing to attend the community meeting on the prison proposal this Saturday.
Ms Watson will be holding a community meeting on the Berejiklian Government’s Kembla Grange prison proposal this Saturday, 19 May at 2 pm in the Sinclair Room at Dapto Leagues Club.
This meeting is an opportunity for the Illawarra community to come together, express their views on the proposal and to be listened to by their local Member of Parliament.
Everyone is encouraged to come along to have their voices heard.
Whilst the Minister for Corrections, the Hon. David Elliott MP, and Corrections NSW have also been invited to answer the local community’s questions, responses are yet to be received.
Quotes Attributable to Anna Watson MP:
“I am disappointed that the Member for Kiama has decided he has more important things to do than attend this community meeting. This proposal has created a lot of debate in the local community and the least he could do is turn up.
“What is Gareth Ward afraid of? For someone who usually doesn’t shy away from a photo op, he is being unusually reclusive.
“The Member for Kiama is this Government’s representative in our region, and he is refusing to meet with the people he is supposed to represent. He should be ashamed of himself.
“The Member for Kiama has again stuck up the middle finger to our local community. It seems that in the eyes of this Government, his title of Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra and South Coast only applies to the electorate of Kiama.”
