PREMIER: YOU’VE GOT MAIL
The Member for Shellharbour, Anna Watson MP, has today put Premier Berejiklian on notice that she will not accept a prison at the site proposed by the NSW Government at Kembla Grange.
Ms Watson has today delivered hundreds of letters collected from local residents opposing the prison to the Premier.
Last Saturday, Ms Watson held a community meeting for local residents to discuss the Berejiklian Government’s proposal at Dapto Leagues Club.
The message was overwhelmingly clear – the site at Kembla Grange proposed by the Berejiklian Government is not appropriate for a prison.
Quotes Attributable to Anna Watson MP:
“The Dapto community has been snubbed by both the Minister for Corrections and Gareth Ward, so I had no other choice but to go straight to the Premier.
“Gladys – I am putting you on notice. The Dapto community will not accept this prison on their doorsteps and nor will I.
“Take a minute to read some of these letters and you will see the stress this has put the community under.
“Your Government needs to do its homework because this is not an appropriate site for a prison. You cannot shatter the dreams of hundreds of young families that have bought land in West Dapto by building a prison across the road.”
