LABOR MP’S BRIEFED ON CORRECTIONS FACILITY PROPOSAL
Illawarra Labor MP’s have encouraged local residents to have their say on the Berejiklian Government’s proposal to build a corrections facility at Kembla Grange.

Anna Watson MP, Member for Shellharbour, Ryan Park MP, Member for Keira, Paul Scully MP, Member for Wollongong and Guy Zangari MP, Shadow Minister for Corrections were briefed by the Parliamentary Secretary for the Illawarra, Gareth Ward MP and Corrections NSW staff yesterday.
The briefing provided no additional information on the detail of the facility than those limited details which has been publicly provided.
The briefing confirmed that there has been no final decision to build a corrections facility on the site and that the immediate next step was to gather more information on the physical aspects and any limitations of the site being considered.
Illawarra Labor MP’s noted that the announcement of the exploration of the site had generated local debate and contact from their constituents and encouraged Corrections NSW and Mr Ward to release the details of the public consultation process as soon as possible.
The Labor MP’s insisted that the consultation process include information sessions in Dapto and Unanderra for residents to speak directly to Corrections NSW representatives.
