DAPTO, KEEP THE PRESSURE ON
The Member for Shellharbour has today slammed the NSW Government for failing to conduct proper community consultation for the Kembla Grange prison proposal.
The ‘consultation sessions’ being held by Corrective Services NSW began yesterday, and have so far failed to provide any further specific details regarding the proposal.
Yesterday’s session was attended by hundreds of local residents, and was a strong demonstration of the local community’s opposition to the proposal.
The Member for Shellharbour urges members of the community to attend one of the remaining consultation sessions to register their concerns about the proposal. The details for the remaining consultation sessions are:
Berkeley
When: Tomorrow, Tuesday 26 June 2018
Time: 10am – 1pm
Where: Winnima Way Reserve (outside Berkeley Neighbourhood Centre), Winnima Way
Unanderra
When: Tomorrow, Tuesday 26 June 2018
Time: 4 pm – 7pm
Where: Unanderra Community Centre, Corner Princes Highway & Factory Road, Unanderra
Quotes Attributable to Anna Watson MP:
“The community has been forced to wait for nearly three months to have their questions answered. I am disappointed that this Government still doesn’t have any answers.
“I had hoped these consultation sessions would finally shed some light on this proposal, but we’re still being kept in the dark.
“Despite this, yesterday’s turnout was an incredible show of strength by Dapto residents. We need members of the community to continue this momentum at each and every consultation session. We need to keep the pressure on to ensure that the message is clear – no jail in Dapto.”
