APR Bypass
No matter where you live in our electorate, chances are you use the Princes Highway through Albion Park Rail.
It is a notorious stretch of road – one of the worst in New South Wales. Heavy traffic often leads to massive congestion. Cars and trucks move at a snail’s pace during peak periods – and public holidays like school holidays, Easter, and the Christmas / New Year period are the worst times.
This traffic congestion will only get worse over the coming years without a bypass.
I have been actively campaigning the NSW Minister for Roads since my election in 2011 for action on the Albion Park Rail bypass – it is the Illawarra’s ‘missing link’ in Princes Highway upgrades.
But budget after budget, year after year, the NSW Government has dragged the chain on the Albion Park Rail bypass. It’s been a series of disappointments and delays for local motorists, who continue to suffer frustrating traffic congestion.
We still don’t have a start or completion date for construction and the project’s cost has already blown out before a single shovel has hit the ground. By the time the construction of the Albion Park Rail Bypass finally begins, the Liberal National Government will have been in power for nearly a decade.
